MIT AgeLab 85+ Lifestyle Leaders Panel

Hello and welcome! Thank you for your interest in participating in the MIT AgeLab's 85+ Lifestyle Leaders Panel.

Within the United States, the 85+ age demographic is one of the fastest-growing populations. Prior to March 2020, the MIT AgeLab convened bimonthly, in-person research sessions in Cambridge, MA, with people ages 85 and over to better understand and explore the experiences and perspectives of those on the frontiers of longevity. Now, we seek to expand our panel by recruiting individuals ages 85 and over from across the United States to participate in our Lifestyle Leaders Research Panel both in-person and online. Workshop topics are selected ahead of each group, guided by the expressed interests of the panelists as well as sponsored AgeLab research projects. Participation in the Panel includes taking our surveys to understand your opinions and participating in guided discussions and interactive online and/or in-person workshops to share your perspectives about your experiences.

The MIT AgeLab is recruiting panelists who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must be age 85 or older (born during or before 1939)
  • Able to understand, speak and fully participate in conversations in English
  • Have access to WiFi and Zoom, a free video-conferencing platform available for download on your computer, tablet or mobile device, OR have access to a mobile/landline telephone with the ability to make phone calls OR be able to come to the MIT campus in-person
  • Have interest in contributing to unpaid social science research through ongoing surveys and discussion groups

For each of the following questions, please mark the best response. In some cases, you may select more than one answer. This questionnaire will help us to learn a bit about you. Participation is completely voluntary and may take 15-20 minutes of your time. If you feel uncomfortable answering any question, you may skip that question or quit the survey at any time. The records of this study will be kept private.

If you have any questions or concerns about this questionnaire or the panel, please contact Taylor at lifestyle-leaders@mit.edu or by calling 617-253-1894.
